“Good buildings come from good people, and all problems are solved by good design.”
-Stephen Gardiner
Having a strong interest in art and engineered buildings, Derek realized in graduate school at Andrews University that a career in architecture would blend these two interests. Derek joined the Dykeman design staff in 2014. “I enjoy enhancing our communities through the beautification of the built environment”.
Knowledgeable in 3D modeling, rendering, and drafting, Derek brings a multitude of skills to his position at Dykeman. Derek works mostly on commercial projects, sometimes supporting school projects, and he enjoys the process involved with every project. A few projects Derek is most proud of are the Fremont Brewery in Seattle and the Everett Public Library Evergreen Branch.
A lifelong resident of Washington, Derek enjoys spending his free time with his wife hiking, camping, and exploring all the great things the PNW has to offer. He also has a love of the Spanish language and culture and has traveled throughout Europe and Latin America.
